One more reason not to trust government with our healthcare
by TMedlin March 2nd, 2010There are a million stories of government incompetence. This one was sent via email by one of our own local patriots.
I've edited it to keep it brief and am publishing it, with his permission:
"...My Mother passed away on 4th February 2010.
She had been in pain and suffering and battling COPD for many years... She is in a far better place and is no longer in pain. At least she will not have to deal with the "Obama Health Care Plan" that we're about to have thrust down our throats.
As I said she died on the 4th of February, we received the Death Certificates on the 16th so we could start putting her affairs in order.
The first stop was the Social Security Office in Raleigh.
After a 93 minute wait, we were seen and the person took the information for Mother and then took Dad's information.
[snip]
Today my dad received in the mail a letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs addressed to my mother ...!!!
It was notifying Mom they were sorry to hear of "my FATHER'S Passing".... and the standard "If you need assistance" ... Yadda yadda yadda..."
[snip]
Dad got on the phone and tried to find out from Social Security what was going on. It was 3:55 in the afternoon. At 3:58 they hung up on him... turned on the standard "Press 1 for English" and "our hours are from..."
He made several other calls into other time zones and found out Social Security had
1)declared him dead
2)cut off his military retirement pay
3)DOD Civil Service
4)Medicare
5)Tri-Care medical benefits and
6)notified IRS to Freeze his bank accounts
We don't know all the rest of the damage done, at least not yet!
Now we have to go back to Social Security office and have those "People" declare him "Not Dead" and they will have to notify all the rest of the folks He is not dead.
This Is a warning ... If you have to file the notice at the Social Security Office, make sure you get a copy of the notifications they are going to send out to approve prior to the notices being mailed... Just to make sure you are not declared "Dead".
[snip]
The way these people run the offices it's no wonder the dead are still voting and drawing their Social Security!
[snip]
Take care out there and never trust any one from the Government...
How they voted and what we do about it...
by TMedlin November 8th, 2009The House bill has passed. Some of our reps supported it, and some voted against it. We can’t use this single vote as a barometer.
We need to look at this vote in conjuction with other votes they have made, in order to make a decision about whether to fight to boot them out, or not. We need to know how they voted on TARP, the stimulus, the budget, Cap & Trade… I don’t have that data, but some of you probably do… at least the voting record of YOUR Representative.
So please post that info here, in the comments section, and I will try to compile a blog that gives everyone an overall view of what our reps are doing. We know that Pelosi has given some of them permission to vote against their party’s interest, in order to keep their seats in the House.
We also know that they are going to push for amnesty for illegals. If that passes, it’s GAME OVER! So we’ve got work to do.
The following tells the tale of the House Bill. Like I requested, please add other pertinent voting record info in the comments and I’ll compile a complete picture to be used to help us develop our strategies going forward.
The House vote -
01 G. K. Butterfield — YES
02 Bob Etheridge — YES
03 Walter B. Jones —NO
04 David E. Price — YES
05 Virginia Foxx —NO
06 Howard Coble —NO
07 Mike McIntyre —NO
08 Larry Kissell —NO
09 Sue Wilkins Myrick —NO
10 Patrick T. McHenry —NO
11 Heath Shuler —NO
12 Melvin L. Watt — YES
13 Brad Miller — YES
One last thought – we only have 2 Senators – Burr and Hagan. The Senate is the next battlefield. I hope the folks from across the state will be willing to ficus, in particular on Kay Hagan on the next couple of months. We need people at ALL her offices EVERY week between now and the time the Senate votes. EVERY week. Rolling Tea Parties circling her offices. Phone calls, faxes and emails…day in and day out. Please discuss this at your KTMS.

"Their plan to sneak the public option into the final bill has already been hatched. And even worse, most conservatives are not yet focusing on the dangers of the individual mandate. "

North Carolina’s 2009 Tax Hike Unique in Southeast
by Bubba September 30th, 2009In a recent USA Today article summarizing how states balanced their budgets this summer, Vice President of the National Taxpayers Union Pete Sepp declared, "With a few exceptions, states have been able to avoid the doomsday projections that big tax hikes were on the way."
Unfortunately, North Carolina was one of those “exceptions.”
As part of the FY 2009-10 budget, North Carolina lawmakers introduced more than $1 billion in new taxes. Indeed, of the three major taxes typically imposed at the state level – income, sales and corporate – North Carolina managed to raise all three. Specifically, the sales tax was increased by a penny, and lawmakers created a “tax surcharge” to be levied onto the corporate tax and personal income tax of single filers earning above $60,000 and married filers earning above $100,000.
State lawmakers insisted that these steps were necessary to balance the budget. Apologists justify the tax hike by claiming that “everyone else is doing it,” and therefore North Carolina’s economic competitiveness will not be harmed. That’s not true.
A report from the National Council of State Legislatures (NCSL) shows that among southeastern states, North Carolina stands virtually alone in its decision to impose massive tax hikes to balance this year’s budget.
Recall that North Carolina raised all three major state taxes – sales, corporate and income. By comparison, no other southeastern state raised even one of the three major taxes in 2009.
The most significant tax raiser among other southeastern states was Florida, with about $1.2 billion in new taxes. Another billion was raised from increased vehicle registration fees. Bear in mind, Florida has no income tax. The other southeastern states imposed little or no tax increases on its citizens. States that did raise taxes merely introduced minimal, targeted tax increases - while not raising any of their major tax rates. Meanwhile, Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina refrained from raising any taxes whatsoever.
Conversely, North Carolina imposed a laundry list of new taxes, including: a higher sales tax ($803 million), corporate and personal income tax surcharges ($196 million), higher “sin taxes” ($69 million), and the new “Amazon” and digital taxes ($12 million).
These developments show that North Carolina’s decision to impose massive tax increases to balance its budget was rather unique among states in the region. Aside from Florida, which was blasted by the bursting of the housing bubble, the next most significant tax hike in the southeast was a $200 million increase in hospital assessments in Alabama – a paltry amount when compared to North Carolina’s billion dollars in new taxes. Why did North Carolina resort to such measures when virtually the rest of the southeast didn’t?
North Carolina’s dependence on tax rate increases doesn’t bode well for the state’s economic competitiveness. Currently struggling with 11 percent unemployment – tied for eighth highest in the nation – the Tar Heel State’s economy was already weighted down by some of the highest sales, income and corporate tax rates in the region.
The new higher tax rates included in this year’s state budget will further highlight North Carolina as a high-tax state in a relatively low-tax region, further harming a state already struggling with a poor level of competitiveness. The Tax Foundation currently ranks North Carolina’s business climate a dismal 39th in the nation, the worst ranking in the southeast. Likewise, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council ranks North Carolina 39th in terms of entrepreneur-friendly policy environments, also worst in the southeast.
Indeed, state government’s past policies have harmed North Carolina’s economic competitiveness, causing us to be among the hardest hit states during this recession. Unfortunately, the new taxes will put us even further behind.
Action Alert : September 15th and 17th
by Bubba September 14th, 2009The 9/12 March will go down in history. With stories, photos, videos and reports flying all over the internet (but, of course, not on MSM), I don't feel the need to say a whole lot about it.
I did file a report at WhatBubbaKnows.com : The Patriot Tsunami ... nuff said.
That was not the culmination of the Tea Party, Townhall, conservative protest movement.
Oh no, it's only the beginning. We have much more work to do. It's time to turn up the heat on the commie-crats and the RINOs, and start applying pressure, pressure, pressure.
There's no time to rest. Statists, communists and moonbats don't rest, neither shall we.

Rep. Patrick McHenry wants all 'czars' to testify
by Bubba September 9th, 2009From TheHill.com :
Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) on Wednesday called for President Obama's "czars," or appointed high-level advisers, to testify before Congress about their "authority and responsibilities" in the executive branch.
The president's "czars" have become a point of controversy among his opponents because they do not have to be confirmed by the Senate as cabinet-level officials do.
McHenry wrote to committee chairman Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) and ranking member Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) asking the appointed officials to testify.
"If the czars have high-level, decision-making authority as their titles would indicate, then it is my concern that their appointment without Senate approval represents a circumvention of our Constitutionally-mandated confirmation process," McHenry, who is a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said in his letter.
Czars were in the spotlight again after "green jobs" czar Van Jones' resigned this weekend. It was revealed that Jones made harsh comments about Republicans and signed a "truther" petition alleging that the government played a role in the 9/11 attacks.
"His ability to slip into a position of power without due Congressional diligence only further underscores the necessity for a confirmation process," the third-term Republican said of Jones.
However, the actual number of czars in the administration is a disputed matter. McHenry requests that all of President Obama's 44 czars testify before Congress. But other reports put the number at around 30.
The North Carolina Republican did not provide a list of the 44 czars he wants to testify.
How Will You Pay for It?
by admin September 6th, 2009What We Want from the GOP
by admin August 31st, 2009Senator Burr and NC GOP
You want to know what we, the people, expect from the GOP?
We expect you to make a stand.
“I would now like to take a few minutes to speak with you about the current health care reform debate in America. Across the country, people are concerned about the reform bills Democrats have proposed. I heard a lot of frustration and anger as I traveled across my home state this last few weeks. I know my colleagues in the Senate have also heard loud and clear the worries so many Americans have about the changes to their health care being considered.
“People in Wyoming and across the country are anxious about what Washington has in mind.
“This is big.
“This is personal.
“This is one of the most important debates of our lifetime.
“If Congress and the administration mess this up, each and every one of us will pay for the mistakes, as will generations to come.
“We need health care reform - but more importantly, we need to get it right. We need reforms that will actually lower health care costs for working Americans and we need to make sure we do not increase the deficit and add to the record debt we’re already passing on to our children and grandchildren.
“The bills introduced by Congressional Democrats fail to meet these standards.
“According to the non-partisan and independent Congressional Budget Office, the House and Senate bills will actually drive up heath care costs. The Congressional Budget Office also says that the Democrats’ bill will significantly increase our nation's deficit.
“Take a minute to think about that.
“The Democrats are trying to rush a bill through the process that will actually make our nation’s finances sicker without saving you money. The American people are growing increasingly concerned about out of control spending in Washington that’s leaving us with trillions of dollars of debt.
“These bills also raid Medicare. This will result in cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from the elderly to create new government programs. Savings from Medicare should only be used to strengthen Medicare.
“The bills would expand comparative effectiveness research that would be used to limit or deny care based on age or disability of patients. Republican amendments in the HELP Committee would have protected Americans by prohibiting the rationing of their health care. The Democrats showed their true intent by voting every amendment down and leaving these unacceptable provisions in the bill. This intrusion of a Washington bureaucrat in the relationship between a doctor and a patient is not the kind of reform that Americans are seeking.
“People across America are telling Congress that current health care bills are the wrong approach and that there should be a course correction on health care reform. They’ve said we need to scrap these flawed bills and take the time to develop the real solutions that the American people want and need.
“We need to enact common sense reform that will actually cut costs.
“More and better choices of competing health plans should be available, so you can find the plan that meets your needs at a price you can afford.
“It’s important that we help small businesses provide affordable coverage for their workers. One way to do this is to give small businesses the power to band together across the country and use their combined negotiating power to find quality, affordable insurance plans.
“We should also reform our current tax system, which drives up costs and makes it difficult for individuals to purchase insurance on their own. Everyone should get a health care tax advantage or no one should.
“We need to reform our flawed medical liability system and eliminate junk lawsuits against doctors and hospitals. Unnecessary lawsuits cause extra costs and drive up health care costs.
“We need to incentivize healthy lifestyle and push for a greater awareness of the importance of prevention rather than increasing sick care.
“And, we need to provide patients with more and better information about the price and quality of their health care services, so they can make the right choices for their families.
“America is a country of choices. We’re a nation of people who want the ability to choose what will best fit our families’ needs and it should be that way with health care too. These are the kinds of health care reforms that the American people want to see, and that’s the kind of change I hear that people want as I travel across Wyoming. A government monopoly just doesn’t serve us best.
“I hope the President and the Democratic-controlled Congress will reject the go-it-alone path that they are currently on. If they do, we’ll have a chance to truly work on a real bill that will address those critical issues. Then we can bring about the reform necessary to decrease health care costs and increase access to affordable, quality health care for all Americans.

On Socialist Hellth Scare
by Bubba August 7th, 2009DEMS SNEAK UNION THUGS INTO CARNAHAN TOWN HALL-- 1,000 Tea Party Taxpayers Locked Out!
The AARP is delivering the exact same message as Obama, Congress, Unions and all pushers of the Socialist Hellth Care scam:
Shut Up! Your opinion is irrelevant, We only want your money.
Prime Example
Fed Up With Lies
Steny Hoyer got splattered by Tea Partiers that threw his BS back at him.
Read the Bill, Read the Bill, Read A Bill, any Bill!
by Bubba August 2nd, 2009On July 19 Tea partiers protested on the sidewalk in front of the Raleigh office of Rep. Bob Etheridge. We protested against Obama's Socialist Hellth Scare.
I recall one of the protesters chanting "Read the Bill. Read the Bill. Read A Bill, any Bill"
Obama's autobot Dhimmicrats in congress are starting to get our message, whether or not they admit it.
This Washington Post article, July 29, reports that House Dhimmicrats have subjected themselves to a 'grueling' 5 hour crash course on the Hellth Scare bill.
180 members of Congress had to do something for which they have limited affinity: Remain speechless. Sit still in a folding chair. Listen to staffers. They couldn't even ask questions but only jot them down for discussion later in the evening.
This, so they can refute accusations that they are voting for a bill they have not read.
Is that good enough?
"No one's going to say we haven't read the bill," said Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger of Maryland, as he took a break from the closed-door gathering.
You haven't read the bill, Dutch.
"Nobody can say we haven't read it," said Rep. Lynn Woolsey of California, just minutes later.
You haven't read the bill, Lynn.
The article goes on to point out the sweet smelling bits in the bill. The Dhimmicrats think they can flick a few drops of rose water on the outhouse and mask the smell. That's not going to suffice. Allowing Medicaid to cover home visits by nurses and covering motorized wheelchairs does not make up for :
Pg 59 HC Bill lines 21-24 Government will have direct access to your banks accounts for electronic funds transfer.
Pg 50 Section 152 in HC Bill - HC will be provided to ALL non-U.S. citizens, illegal or otherwise
Pg 124 lines 24-25 HC No company can sue the government on price fixing. No “judicial review” against government monopoly.
Pg 195 Officers & employees of HC Admin (GOVT) will have access to ALL Americans' financial and personal records.
Pg 317 L 13-20 PROHIBITION on ownership/investment. Government tells Doctors what/how much they can own.
That's only a precious few of hundreds of unconstitutional provisions in the bill.
Furthermore, WhereAs, HitherTo and Forthwith, most of the participants in this 5 hour play followed along with a 34 page abbreviation of the 1,018 page bill (1,018 not counting countless amendments). Cliff notes, if you will. Or cliff notes of a summary of cliff notes.
No word yet on whether any of our North Carolina Dhimmicrats were in that class.
US Soldier Demands Apology From Senator Claire McCaskill
by Bubba July 28th, 2009Report on July 23 Visit to Kay Hagan’s GSO Office
by Bubba July 25th, 2009I went to Kay Hagan's office at 12:15 yesterday in response to an action alert from NC Tea Party. Three people were leaving Kay Hagan's office from MoveOn as about 20 of us piled into her office. We delivered letters, left a signed register of attendees, asked our questions, and voiced our opinions one by one. A twenty year old intern named Will very graciously listened to us. I actually think we gave him an education.
Two rent-a-cops came and told us the tenants were complaining and we had to leave or they would call the police. Well, half the people left but about ten of us stayed and asked what law we were breaking by constitutionally petitioning our representative. One of the other staffers came out from the belly of the office and it was apparent she was the one that had called security. She called them off after Vernon Robinson (former Alderman for City of W-S, also ran against Foxx in primaries) pulled out his cell phone to call a contact at Fox 8 to come watch the police haul us all away.
When we left to go back to work, there were a dozen or so patriots protesting by Green Valley Road. My friend and I rolled our windows down and yelled "Freedom"!!
I later received this message from comrade Nancy relating to what was going on outside the building yesterday:
“I was one of the protestors on the street. WAY TO GO! We had a very nice officer outside. He said we cannot park/protest at her office anymore BUT we can protest on the sidewalk at the street. LOTS of cars go by so that is not so bad. It was mentioned for us to write editorials to the GSO W-S and surrounding newspapers to complain and ask WHY our senator is in a location where we are not allowed to visit. The sad truth is she will be around for 6 years and we will have much business to do with her.”
Nancy brings up an excellent point; we should be writing letters to the editor etc. making the community aware of our efforts! I'm motivated. My husband and I will be walking our neighborhood this Saturday carrying petitions from NC Tea Party. We have a lot of work ahead of us my friends.
Sincerely,
Erika Sloan

We Have to Work Extra Hard
The calls you have been making this week are having an impact. Unfortunately, it seems that our voices are simply not quite loud enough. Speaker Pelosi has said that she has the votes to move the Health Care bill. So, we have to step it up a little bit more. Will you please joining us in emailing the Chiefs of Staff of the following moderate to conservative Democrats?
It is best if you email the Congressional members that are in your state and/or in your specific district. In the email ask the Chief of Staff to certify that their Member will NOT vote for the Health Care bill. You can your state the reasons why this bill is not a good bill for Americans.
Be sure to let the Chief of Staff know who you are in your community whether you are a stay at home mom, a small business owner, or a community leader and the impact of the government take over of our health care to your organization (loss of jobs, increased taxes, etc.).
Thank you so much for helping us further the causes of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets. We promise we will slow down on the amount of emails to you once Congress is in recess.
Tier 1: Conservative to Moderate Democrats who are on Energy and Commerce in the House
If Energy and Commerce does not vote the bill out of Committee, then it will force Speaker Pelosi to bring the bill to the floor of the House without the Committee's approval. Politically, this does not look good for Speaker Pelosi because she will be ignoring the will of her committees.

the Fight Against Government Take Over (of Health Care)
by admin July 21st, 2009From the most recent newsletter by TeaPartyPatriots.org
Time Is of the Essence
The Time to Act Is Now
Dear Fellow Patriot,
Thank you for getting out on Friday to voice your opposition to Government Take Over of Our Health Care! We had protests outside of many offices around the country. We are still tallying our results.
Government take over of our health care is not a done deal yet. We are asking you to Melt the Phone Lines this week. We need to weigh in actively, aggressively, and with big numbers.
To that end, call each of the respective members of the committee below, not just the ones from your state. If the office says they only take calls from their District, remind them that the Representative or Senator swore to uphold the US Constitution, which represents all of us. Also, if they are a committee member (this does not hold true for the caucus members) remind them that part of the Representative or Senator's role on the committee is to gather information from many sources to make the best decision. You are helping provide that information.
Health Care Freedom To Do List
1. Right Now: Click "Confirm your continued interest in receiving email from us" link is at the very top of this email above the Tea Party Patriots image. That will help us speed up the delivery of emails through Constant Contact. Thanks!
2. Tuesday: Call the House Energy and Commerce Committee members. Tell them not to pass the government run health care bill out of committee. Our sources tell us that all the Republicans will be voting against the legislation already so you may choose to focus on the Democrats. Record your answers and the number of calls you made.
3. Wednesday: Call the Blue Dog Democrats. Record your answers and the number of calls you made.
4. Wednesday: Watch the Pajamas Media Health Care Town Hall.
5. Thursday: Call the Senate Finance Committee tell them our economy cannot afford another massive government spending bill. (This link may not be active now abut it will be active before Thursday.) Record your answers and the number of calls you made.
6. Friday: Call your Senators and your Representative; tell them as a constituent you are asking them to vote NO on government take over of Health Care. Record your answers and the number of calls you made.
7. Friday: Call the Blue Dog Democrats AGAIN. Record your answers and the number of calls you made.

We Surrounded Them (Updated 7/11)
by Bubba July 9th, 2009On July 9, 2009 MoveOn.org sent their orgs to the Federal Bldg in downtown Raleigh, NC to hold a rally in support of Socialized Healthcare. The Federal Building site was chosen because it is the location of Senator Hagan's Raleigh office.
The goal was to give speeches, wave a few signs, chant a few chants, garner media attention and convince Kay Hagan that MoveOn.org represents the people of North Carolina.
They Failed.
Their speakers had to yell at the top of their lungs to be heard - their voices were drowned out by patriots. Bystanders and passer-bys had to stand on tip-toes to see their signs - they were surrounded by the signs of patriots. There were no MoveOn chants - if Kay Hagan was watching, she heard only the chants of the Tea Party:
"One Term Hagan, One Term Hagan, One Term Hagan "
And there was no media. MoveOn had no media allies to record their lies of 'Public Option Affordable Healthcare'.
The orgs also cannot truthfully claim superior numbers. The Tea Party patriots outnumbered them 3:1. And when they left, they did so only by passing through the throngs of patriots.
Right-Wing Extremist were the last to leave the battlefield.

Call to Action
by admin July 7th, 2009A Call to Action from NCFreedom.us:
My Fellow Patriots,
I have heard many people over the past few months talking about wanting to DO something
beyond just complaining - well folks, here is your chance. This Thursday, MoveOn.org, a very liberal organization, is mobilizing their supporters
at a rally at the district offices of Senator Kay Hagan. Their goal is to "continue the momentum" of a government gone out of control, "continue the momentum" of spending us into slavery, and to convince the Senator that they represent the patriots of the United States in supporting the upcoming socialist/fascist healthcare programs. We know better - we know they do not represent US, rather WE Surround Them! It is time to stand up and not just slow their momentum, but stop it altogether! It's time for the misguided leftists at MoveOn to, well, move on.
Senator Hagan is an important target, as she sits on the Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, and she is on the fence in her support of a government takeover of the healthcare industry. That is why we MUST have sufficient numbers to prove to the media (because you KNOW they will be there covering their friends on the left), that they do not control us. We MUST have a presence that will firmly remind our elected officials whom they serve, and that the likes of MoveOn and their ilk DO NOT represent the majority in our great nation.
We will not allow this tiny, insignificant minority to sway the fence-sitting Senator
on the matter. It is time for the power and influence of the liberals and their
monopoly of our media to be broken, and for America to see that the Tea Party Patriots
are united.Since there are MoveOn events planned for both Greensboro and Raleigh, it is
important we counter each event in force, in BOTH locations, otherwise the media will just use film from whichever spot they out number us, making the liberal case appear
stronger than it is. Ideally, we need to have numbers sufficient to encircle their entire group, and prove that "We Surround Them".It is time to get out on the streets and confront them face to face.
Thursday is as good a day as any to get started. This is the perfect group to
start with.Be there.

The Enabling Act
by Bubba July 3rd, 2009National Socialism III - The Enabling Act
Somewhere, cosseted deep in the Beltway, far from the prying eyes of honest working folk, those who hope to wrest the final bit of power away from the people and the constitution (that ancient scrap of paper which only impedes them on their march to absolute power), are preparing to repeal Article 22 of the US Constitution.
Pretty soon MoveOn.Org, Media Matters, and all the other Soros-Democrat front groups will begin beating their drums for its repeal because its part of that worthless US Constitution, which was, it is well known, written by white men who had no real understanding of life, liberty, or the pusuit of happiness, and paid no personal price for the production of the document.
There is one big difference between pre-Nazi Germany and current United States. When the Germans finally realized what was happening there was nothing they could do about it. You see ... they had no guns.
